Cookie Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones Ecampus Africa uses, and why. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember information about your visit, such as whether you're logged in, so it doesn't have to ask you again on every page.

2. The Cookies We Use

Ecampus Africa keeps this simple: we only use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or analytics cookies that build a profile of you.

Cookie Purpose Type Duration
PHPSESSID Keeps you logged in and remembers your session (cart, form progress, CSRF protection) as you move between pages. Strictly necessary Ends when you close your browser, or after a period of inactivity

We may also store a small amount of information in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) — for example, to remember that you've dismissed the cookie notice, or a display preference. This stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.

3. Third-Party Cookies

We don't run advertising networks, analytics trackers, or social media pixels on Ecampus Africa today. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first and, where required, ask for your consent before any non-essential cookie is set.

The only third parties involved in a page load are: our payment processor (Pesapal), which you interact with directly on its own hosted checkout page when purchasing a certificate, and infrastructure providers like our web host and font/icon CDNs, which may see your IP address as a normal part of serving the page but do not set tracking cookies on our behalf.

4. Managing Cookies

Because we only use a strictly necessary session cookie, disabling cookies will prevent you from logging in or completing forms — the site simply won't work properly without it. If you'd like to control cookies anyway, you can do so through your browser settings (usually under Privacy or Security), which let you view, delete, or block cookies from any site.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if the cookies we use change. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
