Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Ecampus Africa collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies whenever you use our website, enroll in a course, or contact us.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, such as:

  • Your name and email address when you create an account
  • Course progress, lesson completion, and assessment scores
  • Payment details you submit when purchasing a certificate (we do not store full Mobile Money or card numbers — these are handled by our payment processors)
  • Messages you send us through the Contact page or a course request form
  • Your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter

We also collect some technical information automatically, like your browser type and general usage patterns on the site, to help us keep the Service working properly.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Track your course progress and issue certificates you've paid for
  • Respond to support requests and messages you send us
  • Send you newsletter updates, if you've subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • Improve the courses and platform based on how they're actually used
  • Detect and prevent fraud, such as certificate purchases made under false pretenses

3. How We Share Information

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Payment processors, to complete a certificate purchase (Mobile Money or card providers)
  • Service providers who help us run the platform (such as hosting), under obligations to keep your data secure
  • Authorities, if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of Ecampus Africa or our learners

4. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your session. We don't currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

5. Data Security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing — we never store your password in plain text and can't see it ourselves. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We keep your account and course data for as long as your account is active, so your progress and certificates remain available to you. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll remove your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we're required to keep records (for example, for issued certificates or financial transactions) for legal or accounting reasons.

7. Your Rights

You can ask us to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and associated personal data
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

8. Children's Privacy

Ecampus Africa is intended for learners old enough to legally create an account in their country of residence. We don't knowingly collect personal information from young children without appropriate consent.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
